Judith K. Kraeger

The Memorial Visitation for Judith K. “Judy” Kraeger, 76, a resident of Palatine since 1971, will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated, 10:00 AM at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 410 N. First Street, Cary, IL on Saturday, November 28, 2015.  The Interment will be private.

Judy was born on December 5, 1938, in Fairbury, NE, the daughter of the late Peter J. Vincent and Viola “Susie” (nee Meinte) Merten, and passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015.

Judy married James A. Kraeger on May 18, 1963, in Grand Island, Nebraska. Judy, a 1959 graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing, Grand Island, worked as a registered nurse, clinical instructor at St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, from 1959 until 1965.  Judy was also employed as a secretary by Community Consolidated School District 15, at the Winston Park Campus in Palatine, for nearly ten years.

Some hobbies she enjoyed were cross-stitching, reading, attending her grandchildren’s activities, and traveling.  Judy enjoyed wintering in Las Vegas with daughter Jenny, which also allowed her to visit with siblings on return trips to Illinois.  She also enjoyed renewing friendships with classmates at nursing class reunions.  Highlights also include travel adventures with her good friend, Kay Brown.

Survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, James A. Kraeger; loving children Jeff (Joyce) and Jenny Kraeger; cherished grandchildren Jake, Jill, and John Kraeger; dear siblings Robert (Lee) Merten, Pamela (Randy) Vang, and Gayle Hahn; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.  She is preceeded in death by her grandson, Joshua Kraeger.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Autumn Leaves South Barrington and Alexian Brothers Hospice for their compassionate care.
