Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 4, 2017 also at the funeral home. The Interment will be private.
Judith is the beloved wife of Robert D. Horner. She is also survived by her son, William T. (Heather Carver) Horner; grandchildren, Tricia and Ellie, Carver-Horner; and her sister, Gayle (Alexandre Plokhov) Moberg.
She will be missed by many, many friends who have been blessed by her amazing smile, her caring attitude and the ability to put others above herself. From the time she spent her first date with Bob trying to comfort her friend over the loss of a boyfriend. Through her time as a Hospice Nurse, willing to make midnight visits to her patients in Cabrini Green and Marshall Field Homes. She was so respected in these housing projects that the residents came to escort her during her visits.
When she could no longer meet the physical responsibilities of nursing she became a volunteer advisor/advocate for people confronting everything from their baby’s first cold to those whose relatives were facing serious or life threatening medical events.
Her warm smile and caring attitude made everyone around her feel better even when she was the patient.
Her other most noteworthy attribute was her bravery. She was painfully ill for almost twenty years with each year being more painful than the preceding one. She bore this suffering almost completely in silence until the last several years. If you look up guts in the dictionary you will see Judy’s picture.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to NorthShore University Foundation, 1033 University Place, Suite 450, Evanston, IL 60201
