Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, Julia “Julie” Mary McManus (nee: Larson) passed suddenly with the love of her family surrounding her on March 29, 2023.

She was born October 11, 1944 in Albany, NY to Julia (nee: Quinn) and James Larson.

Starting her career as a nurse, she lived the rest of her life operation ready. Together with her loving husband of 53 years they raised four beautiful children in which they instilled a love of faith and family. She actively volunteered at many of her children’s activities and was extremely proud of all their accomplishments — most especially building their own families.

Julie had a never ending desire to learn, whether through documentaries, books or discussions, and she was quick to share her latest insights. Her thirst for knowledge carried over into her devoted faith as she studied, discussed, pondered and prayed about God’s teachings. Many lucky youth grew in faith under her leadership at Holy Family’s youth ministry and confirmation programs for several years.

There was a special place in Julie’s heart for her grandchildren. She simply adored them and relished time with them, whether cuddled in blankets on the couch with a giant bowl of popcorn, or going on a special outing to see a musical or explore a museum, which often concluded with a stop for extra crispy french fries. She shared many life lessons with them throughout the years, from practicing patience to how to select the best potato chip (a folded one of course). With 10 grands, she stayed very busy enthusiastically attending a myriad of sporting and theatrical events as well as ever-important sacraments.

Despite moving away from her family, Julie was fortunate to have maintained wonderful connections with her siblings and their children. She always enjoyed returning to the East Coast for visits. She also was blessed with many friends who she enjoyed simply spending time in their company.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Neil McManus.

Julie is survived by her treasured children, Neil (Sydney) McManus, Peter (Therese) McManus, Stephen (Deborah) McManus and Mary (Michael) Hutchinson, her adored grandchildren, Kathleen, James, Mary, Erin, Quinn, Patrick, Matthew, Sean, Owen, Elizabeth, and her granddogs, Puddy and Stan Lee. She also leaves behind her cherished sisters, Lynn (Dennis) Quadrini, Laura (Joe) Tumonis and her brother, James (Molly) Larson as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
