Karen Jean Behrel

Karen Jean Behrel, 58, of Lake Zurich, IL, passed away June 8, 2024, at Loyola University Medical Center after losing her strong fight against Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Born May 21, 1966, in Peoria, IL. Karen was the daughter of Tom and Eileen Fischer.

Karen grew up in Morton Grove, IL. and was a 1984 graduate of Niles West High School. She dedicated the beginning of her motherhood to being a stay-at-home mom. Karen’s last 18 years of work was for the Ela Township Accessors Office.

Karen had a strong and devout relationship with God and her faith was an essential part of her life. She found joy in the simple things in life like flowers, anything that was the color purple, and listening to music.

Above all, her children and her grandchildren were her life and the role she played best was “Mom”. Her favorite place to be, was with her family.

Karen is remembered as a kind, humble soul who had the ability to make those around her feel special.

She was beautiful inside and out and will be missed by so many.

Karen is survived by her brother, Scott Fischer, her three children; Kristina Amato, Derek Behrel, Erika Behrel, her two grandchildren; Sophia and Alberto, as well as her partner; Chris Hall.

Family and Friends whose lives Karen touched will be invited to a Celebration of Life in the months to follow.
