Karl E. Thomas Sr.

A Memorial Visitation for Karl E. Thomas Sr., 88, of Palatine since 1974, will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 N. Plum Grove Rd., Palatine, IL 60067. A luncheon will follow the service, also at the church. The Interment will be private.

Karl was born February 21, 1936, in Chicago, and passed away on March 29, 2024.

Karl was the owner of Thomas Electric in Chicago. He was an entrepreneur and was a force to be reckoned with for better or worse. He is a graduate of Bridge Grammar School, Steinmetz H.S., and of the U of I Champaign/Urbana in 1958.  He always had projects, large and small, to give himself the satisfaction of accomplishment and to make things better.  He was a strong supporter of the Shriner's Hospital for Children, Rotary Club of Chicago and the Salvation Army. He even supported Wikipedia.

Survivors include his wife, Judy R. Thomas (nee Vischulis); sons, Karl (Mickey) Thomas Jr, William (Karen) Thomas and David Thomas; and sister, Kitty (Dennis) Sundberg.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis Joyner and Emily (nee Kovats) Thomas and his sister, Christine (late Bob) Kidd.

In lieu of flowers, please plant a crimson maple tree or provide a donation to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
