Visitation for Kathleen A. Karmis, 75, of Huntley, formerly of Lake Zurich, will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 3:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. Family and friends will meet at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, on Thursday, August 1, 2024, where the Visitation will continue from 9:30a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30a.m. The Interment will follow at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Niles.

Kathleen was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2024. Born on January 28, 1949, Kathleen was known for her vibrant spirit and her deep love for cooking, celebrating, and hosting.

Her life was a rich tapestry of adventures and passions. She was a remarkable Polish cook, renowned for her pierogi and kołaczki, and she brought joy to many with her culinary talents. Her love for Disney and her dedication to creating memorable summer vacations for her children were just a few of the ways she made life special for her loved ones.

A compassionate and giving person, Kathleen welcomed anyone in need into her home with open arms. Her ability to bring people together was evident in every party she hosted and every gathering she organized. She was known for her lively spirit and unforgettable moments, including celebrating her second marriage with a memorable party on Bourbon Street.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Karmis. Kathleen was a loving mother to Keith (Amy) Mescha and Donny Mescha, and a devoted stepmother to Sharon, George, Nick and the late Anthony. Her love for her grandchildren was boundless and unwavering. She was a cherished grandmother to Matthew, Caleigh, Emma, Morgan, Amoreena, Alexandra, Arianna, Addison, Karisa, Sarah, and Mathew. Kathleen was also a beloved sister to Barb Horist, Karen Czyscon, and Laura Feldman. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Gina (Eric) Stern, Adam Rajterowski, and Jessica Bowman.

Kathleen's legacy is one of joy, generosity, and love. She touched many lives with her kindness and her zest for life. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the World Wildlife Fund in Kathleen's honor.
