Northwest Highway, Palatine. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the All Saints Lutheran Church, 630 S. Quentin Road, Palatine. Kathy was born and raised in Hammond Indiana with her younger sister Suzanne. She graduated Hammond High in 1964 and went straight into Mt. Sinai Nursing School in Chicago. After getting her nursing certificate, she worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Michael Reese Hospital and eventually found her calling in Home Health Care. While working as a Home Health Nurse, teaching Lamaze classes and raising two children, she went back to school to obtain her Bachelors and Master’s degree in Nursing from Loyola University. While continuing to serve the Home HealthCare Community, she also worked at Buffalo Grove Treatment Center for 33+yrs. She continued to serve her community by being a member of the Palatine CERT team and volunteered at her church helping with the PADS program for the homeless and even taught exercise classes.
When she wasn’t busy working, she spent her time, watching her favorite Chicago sports teams play. She was a die-hard Cubs fan, but also loved the Bears and Blackhawks. Kathy used to enjoy playing volleyball and softball. She loved to travel when she could, spend time with her friends, and her most favorite thing was to spend time with her grandchildren and watch them play sports. And when she wasn’t doing all that, she liked to relax in the pool.
Kathy was full of life, cared a lot and loved deeply. Her friends and family meant the world to her. She made a big impact on many people’s lives and will be missed by all.
Kathleen is survived by her children, William Wallace and Heather (Brian) McKeon; grandchildren, Will 16, Maddy 14, Conner, 10, Makenzie 9; her sister, Suzanne Panazzo; and nephews, Tony Panazzo and Nick Panazzo.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Jean Hanas; and aunt, Ruth Andree.
