Interment will be private.
Kenneth was called to heaven March 11, 2025. He was born May 13, 1943, in Chicago.
Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Donna (nee Sandage); 3 daughters, Lisa (Joe) Bobka, Lori (Brian) Weiser and Lynn (Michael) Farrell; 7 grandchildren, Joshua, David, Zachary, Megan, Ryan, Melissa and Jonathan; 3 great-Grandchildren; and sister, Judy (Steve) Lawson.
Ken was a rebel in his youth, which led him to enlist in the military after high school. Kenneth honorably served in the Marines, earning the rank of Sergeant. He was stationed at several bases across the U.S. and served combat tours in Vietnam. He received numerous recognitions and medals for his service.
Upon returning to civilian life, he and his wife settled in his hometown of Palatine, where he was a proud graduated of Palatine High School, Class of 1961. A licensed electrician by trade, he skillfully worked his craft in many of the original homes and buildings throughout the suburbs of Chicago.
He had a love for hobby model trains, but most of all, fishing, a love and passion that he shared with his children, grandchildren and friends. He enjoyed many memorable fishing trips, winning him record-setting catches; that are in the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame.
He later became a Master Marine Mechanic and was always a wealth of knowledge with all things mechanical and electrical.
He wasn’t a perfect man, but he was a great father, grandfather, husband and friend. To all whom he met; he was stubborn and opinionated, but his ability to set aside all that, and just “shoot the s**t” about fishing, was the man most people knew. Any day was a great day for a fishin’ story with Ken.
