Kevin M. Kennelly

A Memorial Visitation for Kevin M. Kennelly, 69, of Cary, will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. 

Kevin was born March 10, 1955, in Chicago and passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, in Cary. 

Kevin was the beloved husband of Marcia; loving father of Julianne (Benjamin) Stevenson and Jim (Alison) Kennelly; proud grandpa of Liam, Willa and Lucas; dear son of John (d. 1969) and Jane (d. 1996) Kennelly; and cherished brother of Thomas Kennelly, Martin Kennelly (d. 2019), Maureen (Kennelly) Sundstrom and Gregory Kennelly. 

A retired Palatine Fire Department Battalion Chief, Kevin spent 24 years protecting others, earning the admiration and respect of his colleagues and community. Off duty, he found joy in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, feeling the freedom of the open road and enjoying his much-deserved retirement. Most of all, Kevin cherished time with family and friends, creating countless memories filled with love and laughter. His strength, courage and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
