Lawrence R. Johnson

Visitation for Lawrence R. “Larry” Johnson, age 80, of Rolling Meadows, will be held Friday, April 6, 2018 from 4:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at the Ahlgrim Funeral Home in Palatine, and Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 10:00a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service, 11:00a.m. at The Orchard Evangelical Free Church in Arlington Heights, IL.

Larry is the son of Esther and Oscar Johnson of Duluth, Minnesota.  He passed away on March 16, 2018, with his beloved wife, Joyce by his side.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, two of his six siblings, five children, 20 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, all grateful for the wisdom, kindness, and integrity he exemplified.

A math teacher for 38 years, he taught at Chicagoland area high schools, Fremd and Palatine.  Larry used his building and carpentry expertise to help others, making him everyone’s “resident handyman.”

Known for his friendly smile and sweet spirit, he loved to share his love of Jesus and God’s word with others, from the repair shop to his neighbor’s front porch, teaching Sunday School and leading a local Gideons International Camp. His stable presence, loving wisdom, and impeccable humor will be missed.
