“Rusty” grew up in Rocky River, OH, and studied art at Heidelberg College, where he met his wife of 34 years and then settled in Hoffman Estates. Lew worked as a graphic artist, painter, and later high school art teacher for District 211. He faithfully led his family as followers of Jesus Christ. Lew was highly involved in his church small groups, youth ministries and choir. He was an amazing husband, father, artist, teacher, mentor, and friend. He was affectionately known by students as “Hubbs”. “Some people have nice cars and houses, but I am grateful for three children and a wife who love the Lord.” At the age of 58, on August 11, 2013, he suddenly went to be with the Lord. Lew is survived by his wife, Gina; children Benjamin (Kallie), Nathan (Laura), and Maggie; sister Susan Curtis; and many other loving family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lew Hubbard Memorial Art Scholarship Fund or First United Methodist Church of Palatine Youth Ministry.
