A Memorial Mass for Loyd John Galske, 80, of Mundelein, will be said on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Alexander’s Church, 7025 W. 126th Street, Palos Heights, IL 60463.
Loyd was born on January 8, 1941 in Winter, WI and passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 in Libertyville, IL.
He was preceded by his parents Laura and John Galske. Loyd is the loving husband of Judith M. (nee Braham); former spouse of Carol (nee Rumsfeld) and father of their children Cynthia (Lawrence) Christensen; Lloyd “Bud” Galske; Brian (Ann) Galske; and Wendy (Michael) Babjak; brother of late Rose (late Ivan) Goforth; Alice (late Kenneth) LaCosse; and Harold (Joanne) Galske; grandfather of Brigitte Kwiatek; Laura (Kyle) Rathbun; Anthony Galske; Kimberly (Zachary) Billingsley; Ashley (Jeff) Koellner; Bradley Babjak; Alexander Babjak; Nathan Babjak; great grandfather of Briella; Kyla; Blake; Remi; Gianna.
Loyd grew up in Wisconsin and moved to Illinois at the age of 18. At a young age Loyd developed a strong work ethic, ventured different avenues of employment, and started an independent trucking company.
Loyd loved a good cup of (strong) coffee to start his day in the early hours of the morning. He was a faithful man, studied the Bible, a member of the Chapel Church in Mundelein, and enjoyed volunteering his time with the local food pantry. Loyd also enjoyed gardening and inspired others with this passion.
He had a love for travel. His many travels included US National Parks, Ireland, Africa and a Holy Land tour. He also took joy in studying his genealogy and sharing his gained knowledge with family.
Loyd will be missed immensely by his family and friends.
