Lynne L. Rodey

A Memorial Service for Lynne L. Rodey, 83, of Palatine, will be held at 10:30am Friday, October 8, at Countryside Church Unitarian Universalist, 1025 N. Smith Road, in Palatine.

Lynne was born on December 11, 1937 to Thurston and Lucylle Egbert in Buffalo, New York.  She died suddenly on Friday, September 3, 2021 in Palatine.

Lynne was active in her faith community.  Her family and friends were very important to her.  She was a loving, selfless, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She dedicated many years of her life to Hospice Volunteerism.  In her spare time, she loved watercolor painting, cooking, baking, and vacationing in Door County, Wisconsin with family and friends.

Lynne was the loving wife of the late, Frederick W. Rodey.  She is survived by her children, Frederick M. (Michelle Irvin) Urban, Christine L. Hannigan, Nancy (Fred DeMott, Jr.) Urban, the late Diane Rodey, Fred (Elaine) Rodey, Cathy (Linus) Griswold; her grandchildren, Cara (Chad) Knapke, Jacqueline (Tony Garcia) Urban, Emily (Keith Haines) Urban, Max Rodriguez , Heather (Will) Cooper, and Matt Griswold; great-grandchildren, Elenora “Elle” Knapke and Camden Cooper; several nieces and nephews;  and her beloved cat, Cheryl Lou.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Thurston Egbert and Charles Egbert.
