Visitation for Marcos Damian Linares, 60, of Hawthorn Woods, will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. A Funeral Mass will said, 10:30 AM on Saturday at St. Francis de Sales Church, 33 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. The Interment will be at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.
He was born on October 27, 1957 in Lima, Peru and passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018 in Barrington, IL.
Marcos is the beloved husband of Patricia (nee Jimenez); father of Estefan J. and Natalia M.; son of Gumercinda Contreras and the late Marcos D. Linares; brother of Elba (Abelardo Arias) Linares and Cesar (Maria Diaz) Linares; uncle of Adrian Linares, Miguel Arias, Diego Arias, Jorge Jimenez and David Jimenez; son-in law of Virginia Solano and the late Carlos Jimenez; brother-in-law of Gustavo Jimenez and Carlos (Helen Alfaro) Jimenez; best friend of John Highland; companion of faithful pet Perlita.
Marcos earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the National University of Engineering in Lima, Peru. Upon being awarded a scholarship to study at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL, he came to the United States in August of 1984 and completed an MBA in Management and Finance in 1986. He continued to work at Northern Illinois University as a Systems Analyst and Computer Programmer for a few years. Marcos then worked as an Information Technology consultant specializing in software implementations for PricewaterhouseCoopers, Jefferson Wells, and JL & Associates (a consulting company that Marcos created). Most recently Marcos worked as an Information Technology Project Senior Manager for CVS Caremark Corporation. Other companies that Marcos consulted at include Manpower, Boeing, Caterpillar, United Way, American Financial Group, DST Systems, DuPont, General Motors, Fireman’s Fund, Kimball Homes and New England Electric.
Marcos was a member of St. Francis de Sales church and served on the St. Francis de Sales school board for 5 years. He was instrumental in implementing the electronic Gradequick system. Marcos was the vice president of the Summit homeowner’s association.
Marcos was truly devoted to his family and was very proud of their accomplishments. Marcos enjoyed traveling, especially to his home country of Peru and to Costa Rica, the home country of his wife, Patricia. He was an avid tennis player, enjoyed playing soccer, and coaching youth sport teams. He enjoyed watching the Chicago and Peru athletic teams, and spending time with his friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the wishes of the family.
