Margaret C. Deal

Visitation for Margaret C. Deal, a resident of Palatine since 1991 and formerly of Prospect Heights, will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine and on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 9:30am until the time of the Funeral Mass, 10:30am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 Palatine Road, Inverness.  The Interment will be private.

Margaret was born on January 11, 1933 in Janesville, WI the daughter of the late William and Anita (nee: Spalthaus) Holdorf and passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 27, 2014 with her family at her side.

Margaret is survived by James H. Deal, her beloved husband of 61 years.  She is the loving mother of 10: Barbara (the late Leroy) Sundblad, James (Linda) Deal, Bill (Lynn Doglio) Deal, Maureen (Dan) Wynne, Brian (Claire) Deal, Julie (Larry Baier) Deal, Sheila Deal, Lisa (Don) Cook, Ed (Teresa) Deal, and Linda (Dave) Doane.  She is also the cherished grandmother of 29; great grandmother of 13; and the dear sister of the late Muriel (Lyle) Gutzman, and Frederick (Joyce) Holdorf.  Margaret is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews and many other loving family and friends.

Margaret devoted her life to her husband and family.  Her family considers her the consummate and ‘perfect’ wife and mother.  She considered herself the proud mother of “ten perfect children”, who in turn begat 42 grand- and great grandchildren.  She was devoted to us all.  She was proud of her ability to recite each new addition’s full name and birthday – no small accomplishment for an 81 year old.  She loved to pass time playing games with the children, working all kinds of puzzles, sewing, and quilting.  We will always remember her warm smile, calming presence, and unconditional love.  She was truly loved, and will be truly missed by many.
