A Memorial Visitation for Marilyn A. Pedersen, 82, of Palatine for 54 years, will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. Family and Friends will meet at St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church, 1201 E. Anderson Drive, Palatine, on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 10:00 AM for a Funeral Mass.
Marilyn was born on August 16, 1936 in Chicago, IL. She passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at JourneyCare Hospice, Arlington Heights, surrounded by her family.
Marilyn has been a dedicated, valuable and loyal volunteer and employee of the Palatine Park District for over 40 years. She retired as the full-time Museum Coordinator for the district in 2015 and continued as a part-time coordinator until May of 2018.
Marilyn was instrumental in the passion and success in so many facets of the park district over her tenure. Her contributions began as a volunteer, prior to being an official employee of the district, with the restoring the Clayson House in the 70’s; along with the Carriage House relocation from Plum Grove Road & Wilson Road to the Clayson House property in 1981. Marilyn played an active role in the growth, development and improvement of the District providing a higher quality of life and enjoyment through preserving Palatine’s history for the residents of all ages. She had been the backbone of the Clayson House with orchestrating the operations of the facility along with the coordinating and organizing the numerous volunteers of the museum. Marilyn has been a valued, active member of the Palatine Historical Society.
She was the beloved wife for 57 years to the late Alfred W. Pedersen; loving mother of Robert (Josie) Pedersen, Stephen (Brenda) Pedersen, the late Karen (Steve) Pedersen-Bornholt, William Pedersen, David (Noreen) Pedersen, and Christine (Scott) Ocheltree; cherished grandmother of 12; and dear great-grandmother of 1.
