Marilyn “Lynn” S. Ogurek

Lynn Ogurek (nee Lay), 76, died while surrounded by family members on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. She was born on February 4, 1947 in Chicago to the late Lawrence and Eugenia Lay. She married Gary Ogurek on November 3, 1974.
 
Her greatest joy was to see her family happy and following the example she set. She approached life with a sense of humor and a smile on her face. For 16 years, she showed patience and hospitality as a receptionist at St. Francis de Sales Parish. Lynn had a special place in her heart for those in need (two legged and four legged). She offered a listening ear, a voice of comfort, and a welcoming home. She instilled Christian benevolence in all those who crossed her path.   

Lynn is the loving wife of Gary; mother of Douglas (Laura), Daniel (Carrie), and Diana (Kyle) MacGillis; grandmother of Bella, Lilly, Brooklyn, Lucas, Will, Ben, and Charlie; and sister of Sharon Hopkins and the late Charles Larson.  

Visitation for Lynn will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich from 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM. A funeral mass will be said at 1:00 PM with Father David Ryan officiating on Friday at St. Francis de Sales Church, 33 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. Interment will be private.  

Donations in her name can be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the Humane Society of the United States.
