Marion L. Lapsley And Lt. Col. (Ret.) Donald G. Lapsley

A Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of a Celebration of Their Life at 11:30 am on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. An Interment will take place at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary, IL.

Marion L. Lapsley was born February 25, 1926 and passed peacefully from this life on December 8, 2018. Marion was born in Joliet, IL to Vivian and Ed Carey and after their divorce in 1929, he mother was remarried, and Marion was adopted by her step father Raymond Wentz.
Marion attended Senn High School in Chicago, IL. Marion was then employed by The “E” Bond Unit of the Treasury Dept. during World War II where she met and married Earl E. Nystrom in 1944. Unfortunately, Earl passed away in 1957 leaving Marion with their two daughters, Linda and Melody Nystrom. Later she met and married Donald G. Lapsley in December 1957 and was blessed with two more children, a son Robert Charles and a daughter Lori Ann Lapsley.
Marion loved her family and was a great homemaker, a wonderful cook and baker and loved all of God’s creatures. Hobbies included gardening, painting artifacts and reading.
Marion is survived by her children, Robert (Susan) Lapsley, Lori Henricks, Linda (Chuck) White and Melody (the late William) Schwefer, her seven grandchildren, Wendy White (Domanico), Jay White, Andrea Piscotto, Daniel Abderhalden, Kylie, Morgan and Logan Lapsley, two great grandchildren, Blake Domanico and Katelyn White and precious nieces and nephews.
Marion was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents her husbands and her sister.

Lt. Col. (Ret.) Donald G. Lapsley was born July 15, 1923 and passed from this life on October 17, 2018. Donald was born in Chicago, IL to Madalyn and Harry Lapsley. Donald attended Amundesn High School in Chicago, IL and while there became a member of the ROTC. After High School, was the beginning of a long and distinguished military career. Donald served his country in World War II as an Army Medic and continued his career in the Illinois National Guard. Donald was presented with many career awards through out the years honoring his dedicated service of 35 years. Later he worked for The Power Equipment Company and Stevenson High School as a security guard.
Donald and his wife, Marion, retired to Prescott, AZ in 1996. The loved the mountains and the mild four seasons. They took road trips to see the many attractions in Arizona. Donald and Marion sadly died within seven weeks of each other, they were married 61 years.

The family wishes to thank all of the great staff at the Circle of Life Alzheimer’s Home and the Heritage Memory Mortuary in Prescott, AZ for their excellent support and loving care of Donald and Marion and also Hospice Compassus for the care of Marion.
