Mary J. Lane

Visitation for Mary Joyce Lane, 89, of Palatine, will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Home for the Elderly, 80 W. Northwest Highway, Palatine. The Interment will be held privately at a later date.

Mary JOYCE was born on May 24, 1933, to Arnold and Madonna Wendel. She grew up in Celina, Ohio and Fort Wayne, Indiana. She married Thomas Baumgartner, July 4, 1953. They had 9 children. Joyce was a homemaker but as the children grew older, she worked outside the home as a bookkeeper at various local businesses. Joyce loved babies and was thrilled every time she had a new addition to her family which included 23 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

She was a Pro Life advocate volunteering her time and talents in the programs and services of her local chapter. She loved being an adventurer, traveling, trying new experiences, singing, dancing, and enjoying life. She had an abiding faith that carried her through the trials and tribulations of raising her big family. She shared that faith with others outside the family sending needed clothes and supplies to a specific family in Jackson Mississippi for years. She was also a Cubs Fan.

Joyce is survived by her children, Marie (John) Schroeder, Tom (Terri) Baumgartner, Keith (Karen) Baumgartner, Leanne (Tony) Grahame, Claire (John) Struthers, Marilyn (Ken) Krieger, Carolyn (John) Lowe, Paul (Katy) Baumgartner and Alan (Fran) Baumgartner; grandchildren, Candice Dunn, Susan Rivera, Elliott (Julie) Baumgartner, Sean (Jen) Baumgartner, Tasha (Joe) Borchard, Lindsey Baumgartner, Matt (Bonnie) Baumgartner, Kira Grahame, Anton Grahame, Kenji (Morgan) Grahame, Todd (Sandy) Struthers, Phil Struthers, Joe (Nora) Krieger, Kyle Krieger, Steve Lowe, Stacy (Chris) Hotchkiss, Jack Lowe, Jamie (Kate) Baumgartner, Jerry (Jessica) Baumgartner, Mary Jo (Tim) Waller, Claire Baumgartner, Kevin (Meagan) Baumgartner; and great-grandchildren,  Kayla, Kylie, Michael, Samantha, Elodie, James, Michael, Daniel, Layla, Jade, Nolan, Charlie, Lydia, Suki, Elaine, Johnny, Barret, Mikey, Cali, Vincent, Alexandria, Madilynn, Olivia, Liam, Declan, Findley, Brooklyn, Owen, Jack, RJ, Patrick, and Maeve.

She is preceded in death by Madonna and Arnold Wendel, Sonny Wendel, Thomas Baumgartner, Richard Lane, and Megan Baumgartner.
