Mary Ellen Poulsen

Memorial visitation for Mary Ellen Poulsen (nee Gibson), 77, of Hoffman Estates since 1984, formerly of California, Nevada and England will be held Friday, December 27, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. The Interment will be held privately.

Mary was born August 2, 1947, in Marysville, California, and passed away December 20, 2024, in Barrington, Illinois.

Mary was the beloved wife of Pete Poulsen; loving mother of Stefan Poulsen and Derek Poulsen and dear daughter of the late Frank and Ellen (nee Staple) Gibson.

Mary grew up in Yuba City, CA. She graduated from Chico State University with a degree in education. She taught elementary school in 29 Palms, CA where she met her husband. After moving to Nevada in 1981 she focused on her two boys and creating a happy home. Mary and family spent 3 exciting years living in England in the early 90s. In 2005 she decided to get out of the house and become more social which led to her part-time job at Jewel-Osco. Mary enjoyed mysteries, both books and television.
