Michael A. Childers

A Memorial Visitation for Michael Alan Childers, 71, of Palatine, will be held Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service, 5:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.  The Interment will be private.

Michael was born September 24, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY and he passed away peacefully at home, Sunday, November 20, 2016.

Michael was a passionate sports fan who would flip channels to watch three games at a time.  He was an avid reader of the newspaper and you could often find him enjoying breakfast at a local diner with his newspaper and coffee.  He was a connoisseur of the best gas station coffee.  He loved spending time with his friends and family.

Beloved husband of Christine M. Childers (nee Jewett), loving father of Leslie (Jason) Saffle, Victoria (Carl) Haws, Brenda (Felipe) Obil Quiala, Michael (Charlotte) Childers and Robert (Jenni) Childers; loving grandfather of 8: Justin, Samantha, Allison, Alexandria, Meadow, Lillianna, Xavier, and Catherine; dear son of the late Clyde and Ruth Arlene (nee Dougherty) Childers; fond brother of Clyde (Butch), Debra Anderson, Wanda Hoffman, Gregory, Brenda (Sue) Byas, Jeffrey, Benita Bishop, Richard, and Charla.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents and siblings, Vera (Vicki) Kennedy and Donna Miller.
