Michael J. Hanrahan

Visitation for Michael J. Hanrahan, 76, of Lombard, formerly of Hoffman Estates, will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. A Prayer Service will begin at Noon, at the funeral home. He was born on June 3, 1946, in Galesburg, IL to James and Alice (nee Fritch) Hanrahan. After a hard-fought battle with a rare liver condition, Mike passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, IL.

Mr. Hanrahan spent most of his career in finance and as CFO for various companies. After retiring in 2011, he spent his time doing what he enjoyed most, being with family and friends. Additionally, he loved watching sports and enjoying a gourmet meal. In his final days he always spoke about the big party, as we know he was the life of any party he attended and that is the way we plan on remembering him.

Survivors include his daughter, Erin Ashley (Max) Reiner of Lake in the Hills; sister, Mariellen Hanrahan of Minnetonka, MN; sisters-in-law, Mari-Ann Deering of Inverness, and Margaret (Bob) Frick of Pingree Grove; brother-in-law, Con (Sandy) Deering of Vernon Hills. Loving uncle of Matt (Shayna) Frick, Megan (Jonny) Deering, and Kelly (Oscar) Echeverri; Loving great-uncle to Westin Jay and Sophia Marie. And Special friend, Randi Wagner and many other extended family members and great friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia; father, James Hanrahan; mother, Alice Hanrahan; best friend, Kenny Vlk; and in-laws, Julia and Cornelius Deering.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated for the Sisters of the third Order of St. Francis at 1175 St. Francis Ln, East Peoria, IL 61611.
