Michael J. Ziemke

Visitation for Michael J. Ziemke , 91, of Palatine for 55 years, will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy, Palatine.  Prayers will be said on Saturday 9:30AM at the funeral home, proceeding to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 455 S. Benton St., Palatine, for a 10:00am Funeral Mass.  An Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.

Michael died March 24, 2014 at Alexian Hospice Residence in Elk Grove Village, and was born July 9, 1922 in Evanston to Henry and Lena Ziemke.

Mike proudly served his country in World War II in the Navy in the Pacific Theater.  In his spare time he was an avid golfer.  He also enjoyed camping, fishing and he was a dedicated St. Louis Cardinal fan.  Mike was a long time member of St. Theresa Parish and American Legion Post 690.

Husband of the late Mary Jane, Father of Glen Ziemke, Paulette (Steve) Kretschmer, Michael H. (Nanette) Ziemke, Christine Merriman, Jennifer Ziemke-Summerhill and Daniel (Melody) Ziemke.  Grandfather of 11, great-grandfather of 19.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother; Henry and sister; Mary Hall.

Memorials may be made to Alexian Hospice Residence, 901 Martha Street,  Elk Grove Village or Masses, would be appreciated.
