Milton E. Jakovec

Visitation for Milton E. Jakovec  of Lake Barrington Shores, will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich.  Milton will lie in state on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the Funeral Mass, 10:30 am at Transfiguration Church, 348 W. Mill Street, Wauconda.  The Interment will take place at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine, IL.

He was born December 21, 1922 and passed away on August 15, 2016.

Milton is the loving husband of Gwendolyn R. Betker, her son Donald (Nancy) Betker and granddaughter Sarah.  He is survived by his son Ted (Marion) and many grandchildren.  He was the son of George Jakovec and Doris (nee Lysek).

Milton served in WW II with the 8th Air Force, 381st Bomb Group, 533rd Air Squadron.  He was a 1st Lieutenant Navigator.  He graduated from Northwestern University on the GI Bill and worked in the furniture industry.  Milton was a member of the Veterans of Lake Barrington Shores and of the Barber Shop Singers. He was an avid fisherman, traveler and card player.
