Nelia De La Fuente

Visitation for Nelia de la Fuente, 80, of Hawthorn Woods since 2013, will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church at 33 South Buesching Road in Lake Zurich. A Funeral Mass will be said at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 13, 2018 also at the church. A private Interment will be held at a later date.

Nelia de la Fuente departed this world for heaven on September 11, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Nelia was born in the Philippine Province of Batangas and came to the US as a Registered Nurse. She worked in hospitals in the Chicagoland area finishing her career at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital where she was supervisor of Endoscopy & Central Supply. Upon retiring, she moved to Lake Zurich to be near her four daughters and their growing families. She joined the Ela Township Senior Center exercising and participating in many events and excursions. Still, what she enjoyed most, was the time she spent with her children and their growing families. Surrounded by her family on vacations, parties, dinners, sport and special events was how Nelia loved to spend her time. A woman of boundless heart, energy, passion and love.

Nelia was preceded in death by her parents, Maximo & Isabel Hernandez, her husband Lorimer de la Fuente, her sister Socorro Hernandez and her brother Reyne Hernandez. She is survived by her children; Lorraine (John) Cristino, Elaine (Tom) Powers, Gina (Billy) Caplan, and Lorinel (Robert) Bieniek; her grandchildren who adored her and looked up to her, her loving nieces, nephews, great niece, and sisters Rebecca (James) Schreiber and Divina Hernandez.
