Visitation for Nick Espinosa, 80, of Palatine, will be from 4:00 until 9:00 PM on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. Family and Friends will meet on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 Palatine Road, Inverness, for Visitation from 12:30 PM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 1:30 PM. The Interment will be private.
Nick was born on September 10, 1936 in Colombia and passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017.
Nick was the husband of Margaret H. Stahl-Espinosa. Additional survivors include his son, Nick Espinosa; granddaughter, Kennedy Briar Schuh ; siblings, the late Lucrecia L. Espinosa, Elizabeth B. Espinosa, Jesus G. Espinosa; and many nieces and nephews.
Nick received a BS degree from UCLA, California and after retiring received a Master’s Degree in Finance. Professionally, he worked for Sears Roebuck and Advance/IBM as a Systems Engineer.
Nick was active in many facets of life, from his volunteer work at Holy Family church in Inverness where he helped with Job Support and was a Eucharistic Minister. For almost a decade he was a youth soccer coach for the Palatine Celtics and loved skiing, traveling and catching up on the latest science anything through reading. He was a doting grandfather who looked forward to his time with his only granddaughter. With pride he served as a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and was very active in his community.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Nick, may be made to the American Heart Association, 208 S. LaSalle St., Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60604 or Holy Family Church.
