Patricia H. Schmeling

Patricia H. Smith Schmeling, nee Fox, 91, of Barrington died 4 January.  She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family. 

Patricia loved and was dedicated to her family most of all.  She is one of the first women business graduates of Northwestern University.  Patricia was active her entire life including competitive tennis, golf, bridge, reading borrowed books and swimming in warm water. 

Born in Rockford, Illinois, Patricia made her homes in Illinois and North Carolina. 

Patricia is survived by her children Mark (Heather), Patty, Michael (Barb), Christopher (Laurie), Adam, her grandchildren Caroline (Mikael), Emily, Collin, Bennett, Harrison, Ethan, Finn, and her great grandchild Karl.  All will remember her love, dedication and strength.  She is preceded in death by her husbands Al Smith and Roger Schmeling, brother Edward Fox, sister Barbara Steimle, and her parents Helen and Edward Fox.

A memorial visitation will be held on April 5 th, 2024 from 10:00 am until the time of the memorial mass at 11:00 am at St. Anne Catholic Community, 120 Ela St. Barrington, IL.
