Patricia T. Derstine

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on January 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the New Hope Community Church, 1023 E. Palatine Road, Palatine, for Patricia Tyson Derstine.

She passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015.  She was born January 12, 1928, in Lansdale, PA, to the late George Reiff and Isabel (nee Roberts) Tyson.  Patricia was the beloved wife of the late A. Paul Derstine.  She is survived by her only son, Robert (Annette) Derstine, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pat’s kindness and generosity knew no bounds; she loved helping others whenever she could.  Her wide and diverse interests kept her busy.  She was a devoted and active member of New Hope Community Church (formerly, First Baptist Church of Palatine) for many years.  Pat was a benefactor to the Butterfield Youth in Marshall, MO.  She belonged to several organizations; Creative Floral Arrangers of the Americas, the Fireside Doll Workshop of Illinois, and the Palanois Park Garden Club in Palatine where she was a member and officer for many years.

Pat was also a friend of the Palatine Library.  Her travels brought her around the world to many places from Central and South Americas, Africa, France, and a number of other wonderful places.  But mostly, Patty loved sharing all that she did, with her many friends.  People across the country have been touched by her friendship, energy, fun, spirit, and love of life; the world is now a better place because Patty was here.
