A Visitation for Patrick John Link, 85, of Long Grove, will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Rd, Lake Zurich. Prayers will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 21, 2018 also at the funeral home, and proceed to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Rd, Lake Zurich, for the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. The Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
Patrick passed away peacefully after a long illness on December 15, 2018. He was born in New York City, NY on July 1, 1933 to William P. and Rose M. (nee Fearon). Patrick is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Joyce (nee Stokes); his loving children, John (Jacquelyn)Link of Libertyville, Edward Link of Austin TX, Steven (Theresa)Link of Bartlett, Cynthia (Ronald) Lincicum of Cary; his grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Meghan, Jennifer (Thomas), Sabrina, Paige, Tristan(Phil), Quinten, Lauren, and Daniel; his great-grandchildren, Hudson and Noah; and his siblings, William (Carol), Michael (Billie) , Rosemary (James) Coates . In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John and James.
Patrick grew up in Elmhurst Queens, NY. He graduated from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY in 1955. He was a Captain in The United States Marine Corps and served from 1955-1957. He also was in The Marine Corps Reserve from 1959-61. Patrick attended Georgetown University Law School and graduated with a Juris Doctor. He started his corporate legal career at Universal Oil Products in Des Plaines, IL in 1965. He was Vice-President and General Counsel when he left in 1984. He moved to Hampton Falls, NH in 1985 after he was named Vice-President and General Counsel for Signal Engineered Products Group where he remained until his retirement in 1992. He also worked as a consultant for The Henley Group from 1985- 1993. He then moved back to the Chicago area and eventually settled at Royal Melbourne in Long Grove, IL in 1995.
Patrick enjoyed a life of service and helping others. He served as a commentator at St. Thomas Becket Catholic Church, President of River Trails Park District, Village trustee for The Village of Mt. Prospect, Board Member of Royal Melbourne HOA , Board Member of Mystic Greens HOA (Naples, FL) and recently as a minister of care for St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Patrick enjoyed many years wintering in Naples, FL at Lely Resort golfing and laying by the pool. He will be remembered as a loving, generous and compassionate man.
