It is with heavy hearts that the family of Peggy Louise Scott (nee Newberg) announces the passing of their beloved Mother in Lake Zurich, Illinois on Sunday, April 8, 2018.
Peggy was born on July 12, 1934 in Ludington, MI a quaint, little town on the shores of Lake Michigan; a place she held close to her heart her entire life.
Peggy attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI where she met her first husband Robert Michael Adelizzi; they were later married and had five children and settled in Barrington, Illinois.
Years later, Peggy relocated to Hayward, California where she met Robert M. Scott, a thirty-year veteran of the US Navy; they were married on April 16th, 1983 and shared many happy years until his passing in 2015, three years after their return to Illinois to be near her family.
Throughout her life, Peggy displayed great strength and courage; she underwent a heart transplant in 1990 at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California after being diagnosed with severe heart disease the previous year. In a unique turn of events, Peggy received an organ from a live donor and in the years that followed, became a “poster child” for Stanford’s organ transplant program.
In 2006, Peggy underwent a kidney transplant after several years on dialysis and once again demonstrated her amazing ability to persevere. Peggy was tough, she was a fighter and simply did what had to be done while always maintaining a positive attitude and never asking “why me?”
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Dorothy (nee Kerry) and Frederick Newberg; her beloved brother Robert (Dona) and sister Beverly (Elbert) Kennedy.
She is survived by her dear sister Joyce (Robert) Morrison and baby brother Phillip (Robin) Newberg.
She leaves behind her children, Linda (Manolo) Calzada, Cynthia (Susan) Pisani, Robert (Lori) Adelizzi, Peggy Adelizzi and William (Sherri) Adelizzi, and grandchildren David (Carrie) Calzada, Kevin (Amy) Calzada, Daniel Calzada, Vincent Pisani, Robert, Emily and Andrew Adelizzi and Joseph, Michael and Samantha Adelizzi, and great grandchildren Joshua and Liana Calzada and Braden, Isabel, Samuel and Isaac Calzada.
