In Penelope’s honor, there will be a memory table on display Friday, November 8th from 5:00 to 7:00pm and Saturday the 9th from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the 45th Annual Dollhouse and Miniature show located at the Holiday Inn in Elk Grove Village 1000 Busse Rd, Elk Grove Village, IL. All are invited to stop by and share memories. Services and memorial will also be held next summer in Leland, Michigan, where her ashes will be laid to rest off the shores of Lake Leelanau.
Penelope Jean Channer who was born February 18th, 1943 left us to see her beloved parents in heaven on October 28, 2019. Penny, who was diagnosed with Crohn’s in her early twenties, was a fighter till the very end. Her spirit never gave out but her body could no longer keep up.
Penny was a talented artist and was known around the world for her miniatures. She was especially known for her delicate flowers and detailed Christmas Trees that she made all by hand. Penny was commissioned by the Smithsonian to create a Christmas tree for their miniature White House and was often featured in Nutshell News (miniature artist publication.)
Penny was a world traveler and has seen places most of use will never see including Russia, Asia, Europe, Africa and may trips to England. She loved traveling and took many extended excursion cruises with her parents.
Penny was very fond of cats especially the Bengal breed for which she had several including her beloved Raja and Cloudy which she will now be reunited with in heaven.
Penny had an incredibly close relationship with her parents Fred and Georganne Channer and took exceptional care of them in their later days.
Penny is preceded in death by her parents Frederick and Georganne Channer and sister-in -law Michele Channer. She is survived by her brother Christopher (Terri) Channer and Kendall Channer; nieces and nephews William, Rebecca (Kennedy), Jennifer (Kevin), Jason, Elizabeth (Matthew), Benjamin (Lauren), Katie (Timothy) and Sarah; great nieces and nephews Nicole, Jason Jr, Jillian, Filomena, Phoenix, Lillian, Zoey, Georganne, Remington, Era Mae and Theodore. She will also be greatly missed by her beloved Aunt Patty Shea and family.
