Visitation for Randy J. Cichon, 59, of Palatine, will be held from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, IL. Family and friends will meet directly at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 144 E. Palatine, Palatine on Monday, July 8, 2024, where Visitation will continue from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. The Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
Randy was born on November 19, 1964, to the late Joseph Cichon and the late Alice Hejhal. He passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at home.
Randy spent most of his childhood in Chicago until moving to Elmhurst, where he attended York High School. He was active in football, gymnastics, and wrestling, and he made many friends there. Randy worked many jobs, starting in apartment maintenance, moving on to hotel maintenance, and most notably working up to maintenance engineer at Lake Forest Academy and Quest Academy.
Randy had a passion for life. His love of classic muscle cars, particularly Oldsmobiles, could be seen at car shows and cruise nights, where he would drive either his 1968 candybrandywine-colored 4-4-2 or any of his Hurst Olds cars including the 1984, the 1974 pace car, or his 1972 pace convertible. Other passions of Randy’s included RV camping, bike riding, car mechanics, history, playing games with friends, and spending time with family.
Randy is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kimberly (nee Kolze). He is also survived by his parents-in-law, Bob and Pat Kolze; his brother-in-law, Bob Kolze, Jr., and sister-in-law, Kathleen Kolze; his siblings Ron Cichon, Robbie Cichon, Roger Cichon, and Richard Cichon; as well as stepbrothers, Rueben Sanchez, Tom and Michael Hejhal; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Hejhal (nee Glogowski); stepfather, Frank Hejhal; father, Joseph Cichon; stepmother, Candy Cichon; sister, Judy Hurta (nee Cichon); niece, Roberta Cichon; Godfather, Uncle Richard Bienias; and cousin, David Reilly.
In lieu of flowers, Randy has requested that memorials be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ in Palatine at 144 E. Palatine Road, Palatine, IL 60067.
