Memorial Visitation for Raymond C. Bitter, of Palatine, will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy, Palatine.  Family and Friends will meet at 10:00AM, Monday, August 8, 2016 at the funeral home for a Funeral Procession to Randhill Park Cemetery, Arlington Heights for the Interment and Military honors.   

Ray was born on March 25, 1932 in Chicago and passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 while in hospice care at Lexington Healthcare Center in Wheeling, Illinois.  

Ray married Anna Schulmeister in 1955.  They were married for 35 years before her death in 1990.  Ray spent his life as a hard-working farmer with his wife, Anna, by his side.  During their marriage they farmed in Des Plaines, Palatine, and Schaumburg and will be most remembered for their roadside vegetable stand on Roselle Road in Schaumburg.  Ray was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Korean War.

Ray is survived by his loving children, Larry (Ann) Bitter, Glenn (Michaeleen) Bitter, and Debra (Donald) Zabinski; grandchildren, Glenn, Jeffrey, Jessica, Christopher, and Suzanne Bitter; Aimee, Ashley and Alyssa Zabinski; and his sister, Marie Engelhardt.

In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna; his brother, Edward Bitter; and infant granddaughters, Alison and Kimberly Bitter.
