The Visitation for Reuben Riemer, 91, will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 3:00PM until 8:00PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00AM on Friday, January 23, 2015, also at the funeral home. An Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights.
Reuben was born in Chicago on May 10, 1923 and passed away January 11, 2015.
He joined the army and served during WWII. After the war, he remained overseas acting as an interpreter. He returned home and settled with his wife and children in Palatine, where he lived for the next 63 years. Reuben was a lifetime member of the Local 150 International Union of Operating Engineers, working on projects around the Chicago area such as O’Hare Airport and many of the expressways. He was well loved by everyone who met him and made many friends. He is warmly remembered for his sense of humor and great story telling ability. Reuben loved to make people laugh and was always there for you when you needed him.
He was the loving husband of the late Margareth; father to the late Joe (late Nancy) and Irene (James) Roberts; grandfather to Jennifer, Heather, Cindy, Susie, Tom and Stephanie; great-grandfather of Kyle, Jessi, Brit, Jaden, Tenley and Keegan. He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren.
