It is with heavy hearts that the family of Richard D. Holby II (AKA – Dad, Poppa, Peaks, Precious), announce the passing of one of the most generous, selfless and big-hearted human beings that we were privileged to have in our lives. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 1:00pm – 5:00pm at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. The family asks that you please wear bright colors when you join us for the celebration of Richard’s life.
He was embraced in his final moments by his loving and devoted children; John (Becky), Ricky and Lizzy (Steve). Richard grew up in Morton Grove, IL and attended Maine East High School where he met the love of his life, Dawn Krocker Rogers. They were married in 1979, had three beautiful children and raised them in Inverness, IL.
Richard devoted his life to his family and helping those in need. He will be especially missed by the lights of his life, John (Becky), Ricky and Lizzy (Steve) and his adoring grandchildren, Logan, Cole and Alyssa. He was a beloved brother of Terry (Pete) McVay and Fran Holby, dearest cousin, uncle and friend of many.
Richard had a passion for golf, fishing, the Cubs, telling jokes, music, singing (since he knew every song), playing air drums in the car, cooking his famous French Toast and being the life of the party. If you hear a whistle in the future, just know it is probably Richard calling us from Heaven. He was predeceased by his father, John Holby, his mother, Margaret Vasile and his stepfather, Joseph Vasile.
