Richard J. Smagur

The Visitation for Richard J. “Dick” Smagur, 78, of Round Lake Park, formerly of Palatine, will be held Thursday, January 9, 014 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine, and will continue on Friday, January 10, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 Palatine Road, Inverness, IL 60067, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.  Father Terence Keehan will officiate Mass.

Richard was born October 4, 1935 in Chicago, and he passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 5, 2014, surrounded by his family.

Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.  Survivors include his wife, Donna C. (nee Pintozzi) Smagur, children, Susan (Michael) Olszewski, Richard (Renee) Smagur Jr., Karla Smagur and Douglas Smagur; eight grandchildren; step-children, Laura (Joseph) Sullivan, Robert Jagla; three step-grandchildren; and brother, Jerry (late Mariellyn) Smagur.

Richard was preceded in death by his first wife Mary A. (nee Mueller) Smagur and his parents, Joseph and Lorraine (nee Malsewicz) Smagur.
