Richard L. “Dick” Schick

Visitation for Richard L. “Dick” Schick, a resident of Lake Zurich for 53 years, will be held Friday, April 15, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich.  The Visitation will continue Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, IL 60047.  Father David Ryan will officiate the Funeral Mass.  Interment will follow at Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery, Cary, IL.

Dick, 81, was born July 30, 1934 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and he passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, IL.  Family loved him; fish feared him.

He was a biology teacher, avid outdoorsmen, and environmentalist.  In addition to teaching 30 years at Lake Zurich High School, he was also wrestling and football coach for 13 of those years.  His love of the outdoors was evidenced by years of volunteer involvement in various environmental and outdoor organizations.  Besides family, his passions were fishing, hunting, and boating. Dick also was a member of various service organizations, including the Knights of Columbus.  Known for his kindness, humor, and generosity, his life had a profound impact on his family, friends, and student/athletes.

Beloved husband of Anne L. Schick (nee Scherr) for 56 years; loving father of Michael (Sandra), Joseph (Bernice), Virginia (Dr. Robert Rouse), John, and Paul (Joan);  loving grandfather of Daniel (Sarah), Kayla (Brian) Krauss, Thomas,  Morgan, David, Benjamin, and Timothy; dear son of the late Lester and Alice (nee Kieferle) Schick; close brother of the late Charles (Mary) and Lester (late Janet); and dear brother-in-law of  Virginia (late Peter) Thomas.
