A Memorial Mass for Richard E. Ryan, 76, of Cary, will be held on Monday, September 23, 10:30 AM at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 410 N. 1st St, Cary, IL. The Interment, with military honors, will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL at 2:00 PM. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Wauconda Legion Hall, 515 S. Main St, Wauconda, IL from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Richard was born on November 19, 1947, to William and Helen Ryan. He passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2024.

Rick was born in Brooklyn and moved to the Chicagoland area when he was 11 years old. He attended St. Viator High School where he met many of his life-long friends. He went to St. Joseph’s College in Indiana where he graduated with a degree in accounting. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1969-1971 and was honorably discharged in 1975. He was a coach of football, baseball, and softball for all of his children. He was also a Webelos leader and Cubmaster of Pack 309 in Lake Zurich, IL and Assistant Scout Master for Troop 93 and Troop 309. He also served on District staff in the Northwest Suburban Council, BSA. He was an accountant for 40 years and retired in 2015 where he lived out his remaining years spending time with his family in Cary, IL.

Richard was the beloved husband of Elizabeth D. Ryan of 47 years; loving father to Timothy, Jennifer, Robert, and Mark (Stephanie) and loving grandfather to Charlie and Colton Ryan. He is survived by his brother, Greg and sister, Virginia along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Helene, and niece, Suzanne.
