Robert H. Jessen

Funeral Services for Robert H. Jessen, 85, of Lake Barrington will be private.

Robert was born on October 27, 1931 in Chicago, IL to Harry and Irene Jessen.  He passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.

Robert was the beloved husband of Harriet for 60 years. He is also survived by his children, Laura Jessen and Brian (Erin) Jessen; and grandchildren, Shannon, Rachel, and Caden.  

Robert was a Marine veteran of the Korean War.  After serving, he enrolled into The University of Illinois, graduating in with a degree in Architecture.  After becoming a registered architect in several states, he worked as an architect throughout the Chicagoland area, designing his own office building in Rolling Meadows.  Professionally, Robert designed the first energy efficient Earth home, the concept of an octominium, numerous commercial projects, various war memorials, including the one in Palatine.  Robert was an aficionado of Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright, whom he met twice.  As a 27 year resident of Lake Barrington, he designed hundreds of deck projects for homeowners.  He was also an avid golfer and bowler.
