Robert L. Bergman

Memorial Visitation for Robert L. “Bob” Bergman, 65, a lifelong resident of Palatine, will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 3:00PM until the time of the Memorial Service at 8:00PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.

Robert was born on November 10, 1948 in Elgin, IL the son of Vernon and late Marion (nee Luerssen) Bergman and passed away Friday November 29, 2013.

Bob graduated from PalatineHigh School and joined his father in the family trucking business, Bergman Trucking. He later was elected Palatine Township Hwy. Commissioner, a position which he held for 24 years. He then went on to work for the IL Secretary of State and later served for one term as a State Representative for Illinois. Following his service to the State of Illinois he began working for Arrow Road Construction where he remained until the time of his retirement in 2012, all the while maintaining local political consultation and campaign management.

Bob is survived by his dear father Vernon Bergman; loving children Jessica, Robert and Daniel Bergman and Jennifer Schwartz; cherished grandchildren Annabelle and Riley Bergman, Malcolm and Dominic Filichia, Griffin and Hunter Schwartz; siblings Daniel (Gayle), Tom (Lis) and the late John Bergman; and his nieces and nephew Cari, Amanda, Katie, Thomas, Kathy, Karla, Derik and Shane.
