Robert L. Block

A Memorial Visitation will held for Robert L. Block, 61, of North Barrington for 9 years, formerly of Lake Zurich, Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, followed by a Memorial Mass on Friday, April 25, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich.  Father David Ryan will officiate the Memorial Mass.  A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah, WI.

Robert was born July 26, 1952 in Neenah, WI, and he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014 at home in North Barrington.

Bob’s greatest love was spending time with his wife, four daughters and grandson. He taught them to cheer for the Green Bay Packer’s even in the worst of times! He loved golf and encouraged everyone to try, kicking their ball out to give them a better lie. There was not a sport he didn’t love to either play or watch and followed them all.

After growing up in Neenah Wisconsin, Bob graduated from Carroll College and moved to Illinois, starting his career at Allstate and earned his MBA with University of Illinois-Chicago. Bob worked for Allstate for 39 years, never wishing to retire because he loved what he did. His tireless dedication to his job gained him not only co-workers, but also life long friends. Family always came first and while he left us too early, he undoubtedly left a lasting mark on the people he loved and mentored.

Robert was the beloved husband of Mary L. Block (nee Lord); loving father of Molly (Timothy) Latuszek, Kelsie (Patrik) Modig, Madeline Block, Alexandra Block and Dylan Block; dear son of the late Frederick and Lois (nee Gottfried) Block; fond brother of Marifred (Peter) Bylow, Frederick (Donna) Block, James (Gloria) Block and Kathleen (Carole) Block.
