Visitation for Robert Milton Scott, 86, of Lake Zurich will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at The Orchard Church, 1301 S. Grove Ave. Barrington, IL 60010 (847) 852-2200.  Funeral Services will be held, 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 10, 2015 also at the church.  Burial with full military honors, 1:30 PM Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421 (815) 423-9958.

Robert passed away peacefully in Lake Zurich, IL, on March 26, 2015, and was born in Eldora, IA on March 7, 1929.

In 1946, Robert enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 16 and earned his GED while in the service.  Robert spent his Naval career on the USS Yorktown, the USS Coral Sea and the USS Oriskany as an Aviation Structural Mechanic First Class as well as a Flight Engineer and received numerous commendations.  After completing thirty years of active and inactive service, he was transferred to the retired list of The US Navy/Navy Reserve on April 1, 1976.  For the next 20 years, he worked at Consolidated Freightways as a Diesel Mechanic.

Preceded in death by his parents, Florence (Knott) and Charles Scott, he is survived by his wife of nearly 32 years, Peggy Scott, nee Newberg; his brothers Jim (Ginny) Scott, Don (Cecile) Scott; his children Angela (Larry) Copeland of Alabama, Debra (James) Dobler of Washington, Charles (Linda) Scott of Alaska, Lynda (Ron) Reyes of California and Irene Scott of California as well as his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  In addition to his immediate family, Robert enjoyed the love of his extended family of five stepchildren (many with spouses) and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
