Robert "Dutch" Gerald Schultz, aged 78, of Palatine, IL, passed away on December 4, 2023. He was born on May 23, 1945, in Oak Park, IL, to the late Walter and Libby Schultz. Dutch was a beloved husband to his wife Edie and a cherished father to his children Heidi (Jim), Kurt (Michelle), and Brigit (Jeremy). He was also a proud grandfather to Ethan, Greta, Nathan, Noah, Owen, Abby, and Carson. Dutch is survived by his siblings Jim, Carter (Andrea), and Greg (Debbie), and was preceded in death by his brother Arthur and niece Susan.
Dutch was known for his loyalty, honor, and caring nature. He possessed a sharp intellect and was admired for his consistent and selfless demeanor. He was a man of integrity, always trustworthy and generous in his actions. Dutch had a great sense of humor, bringing joy and laughter to those around him.
Dutch graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School and continued his pursuit of knowledge at Harper College. Dutch proudly served in the Army for three years, exemplifying his dedication to his country. His military associations were a source of pride for him, and he spoke the language of service with honor.
In his professional life, Dutch excelled as the VP of Marketing Plibrico Co. He also made significant contributions as an Energy Consultant for School District 25 in Arlington Heights. Dutch's commitment to his community extended to his role as a Commissioner for the Palatine Park District, where he worked tirelessly to enhance the lives of others. He was a founding member of the Palatine Park Foundation and volunteered his time at countless other community events. One of his greatest joys was to dress up as Santa and brighten the eyes of the young children he would meet.
Dutch enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including travel, golf, fishing, gardening, and watching college football. These activities brought him immense pleasure and allowed him to create lasting memories.
Visitation will be held at Ahlgrim's Family Funeral Home in Palatine, IL, on Sunday, December 10th from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. A party to celebrate Dutch's spectacular life will be held at American Legion Post 690 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm.
Contributions in his memory can be made to the Palatine Park Foundation, supporting the causes that were dear to his heart.
