A Memorial Visitation for Ronald James Berrie, 78, of Mundelein will be held Sunday, February 19, 2017, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. Visitation will continue Monday, February 20, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service, 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 24500 Old McHenry Road, Hawthorn Woods, IL, 60047. The Inurnment will be at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie.
Ronald was born July 3, 1938 in Evanston, IL and passed away, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at JourneyCare, Barrington, IL.
Ron was born and raised in Evanston, Illinois and graduated from ETHS. Following graduation, he served our country in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. Returning from the Army, he met the love of his life, Mary Lou, and they were married on May 14, 1966. Ron had a 40-year career with Illinois Bell and finished working out of the Wheeling office. Ron’s interests when he retired included touring the nation by coach bus, woodworking, crossword puzzles and watching his grandchildren in their many activities.
Beloved husband of Mary Lou Berrie (nee Gartner); loving father of Carol (Kevin) Finnen and Michael (Debra) Berrie; loving grandfather of Kelly and Brian Finnen and Alana Berrie; dear son of the late James and Marie (nee Loebbaka) Berrie; fond brother of Joanne (Fred) McGowan and the late Jean (late Frank) Haltom and late Jacqueline Berrie; dear brother-in-law of Linda (late Henry) Gartner; loved by many nieces, nephews, distant relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hawthorn Woods.
