Ronald J. Sapochak

Visitation for Ronald J. Sapochak, 85, a resident of Lake Zurich since 1976, will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Rd., Lake Zurich. Prayers will be said at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at the funeral home and process to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Rd., Lake Zurich, for the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. The Interment will follow at Ascension Catholic Cemetery, Libertyville.

Ronald was born on March 22, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late John and Frances Sapochak. He passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021.

Prior to Ron’s retirement, he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 35 years.  He also served in the US Navy from 1954 until the time of discharge in 1958.

Ron had a lifelong passion for coaching baseball and officiating football, basketball, and baseball for 30 years up until age 80. He was loved by his family, friends, and all the people whose lives he touched. Everyone enjoyed Ron’s quick wit and silly jokes.

Ron is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary C. (nee Rothdeutsch) Sapochak; loving father of Ronald P., Judith A. (George) Tuider, David J. (Rene) Sapochak, Linda S. Sapochak (George Maracas), Donna L. (Glenn) Kowalski, and Lisa B. (Everett) Lee; cherished grandfather of Sara, Alex, Amanda, Rebecca, Andrew, Michaela, Maia, Ava, Ethan, Nicolas and Alex.
