Roy G. Neilson

Visitation for Roy G. Neilson, 88, of Palatine for 59 years, will be on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service, 10:00 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine.  An Interment will follow at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.

Roy was born on February 22, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Roy and Ida Neilson.  He passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Northwest Community Hospital.  

Roy was a 1947 graduate of Lane Tech High School.  He was drafted in to the US Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War.  Roy was a proud, long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine where he was very active.  An avid fisher, he enjoyed his time at Webb Lake in Minnesota.  Roy was also a member of the Graphic Communications International Union and an avid golfer.     

Roy was married to the late Dorothy Elaine Neilson.  He is survived by his children, Denise (Bill Wright) Neilson, Robert Neilson and the late Randall Roy Neilson; brother in law, Fred Moeller; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

He is preceded in death by his brother, Fredrick Neilson.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Roof Fund, 200 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine, IL 60067.
