Rudolph Brunner

Memorial Services for Rudolph “Rudy” Brunner, 90, formerly of Palatine, will be from 2:00 pm until the time of the Memorial Service, with Military Honors, at 5:00 pm, Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home in Lake Zurich.

Rudy passed away surrounded by his loving family, on November 10, 2017 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois.  He is survived by his son, Robert (Kim) Brunner and daughter, Elizabeth Brunner; his adored granddaughters Kathryn Brunner and Julianne Brunner; brother, Norbert Brunner; niece, Waltraut Jetzt and countless extended family both in the U.S. and in Germany.  Rudy was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ella (nee Wick), his son Peter Brunner, and his sister Marianne Reindel.

Rudy was born in Munich, Germany in 1927 to Anna and Konrad Brunner.  After the war, Rudy married the love of his life, Ella, and moved to the United States.  Upon his arrival in the US, he was drafted into the Army where he served for two years with distinction.  After he was discharged, Rudy returned to Chicago to start a family and a career in Printing.  In 1960, Rudy moved the family to Palatine where he lived until 2015.  In 2016, Rudolph Brunner was flown on the Honor Flight to Washington DC where he toured the WWII and Korean War Memorials and was awarded with the South Korean Ambassador of Peace Medal, honoring the brave US men and women that served during the Korean Conflict.  Rudy loved his family dearly, providing for and protecting them, as he had proudly served to protect his country.
