Visitation for Ruth Alder, 92, a resident of Luther Village in Arlington Heights formerly of Palatine, will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 10:00AM until the time of the Funeral Service, 11:00AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine. The Interment will take place at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Ruth was born on December 6, 1922 in Mainz, Germany the daughter of the late Leon and Johanna (nee Schwartz) Kempe and passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2015.
Ruth was a proud employee of Marshall Field’s working as a sales associate for more than 40 years at the Chicago, State Street location prior to her retirement. Following her retirement Ruth volunteered at Immanuel Lutheran School in Palatine helping to serve in the school cafeteria. She was also a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she had been an active member of the 50’s Plus Club. During the time Ruth lived at Luther Village she had been involved with numerous activities including being a part of the German Club.
Beloved wife of the late Edward Alder; loving mother of Henry (Jean) Alder and Richard (Christine) Alder; cherished grandmother of Julie (Matt) Brown, Gerald (Jillian), Michael (Anna) and Laura Alder; great grandmother of Alexandra and Mackenzie Brown, Aden and Adam Alder; aunt of Regine Kempe; great aunt of Noelle Kempe; preceded in death by her brother Gerhardt Kempe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Ruth, would be appreciated for Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center, 2050 Claire Court, Glenview, IL 60025 or to Immanuel Lutheran Church and School, 200 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine, IL 60067.
