Services and Interment for Shirley Alice Gil (Nee Kuffel), 82, of Grayslake, will be held privately.
Shirley was generous and always thought of others before herself. She frequented second hand stores buying blankets, sheets, towels, to donate to dog shelters. She wanted to help the shelter dogs by making them as comfortable as possible while they awaited their furever homes. Every year, Shirley also donated school supplies to students who could not afford them. She filled many backpacks and dropped them off at local schools. She also donated to local fund-raising drives.
She is survived by her daughters, Katherine (Dennis) Hohol and Patricia Stanko; grandchildren, Scot Hohol, Kallie (Alex) Paul, Kristie Hohol, Nicholas (Sarah) Brown, Erica (Dave) Patricca, Kyle (Nicole) Stanko; and great-grandchildren Camden, Carter, Colby, Jayson, and Charlotte (due in August).
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Josephine Kuffel; brothers and sisters, Frank Kuffel, Richard Kuffel, Ken Kuffel Lorraine Ciecko, Phyllis Mooradian, and Lillian Reed.
In Lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to: Almost Home Foundation in Schaumburg, or school supplies at your local school.
