Shirley A. Gondek

Visitation for Shirley Ann Gondek, 93, of Palatine, will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM on, Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N Northwest Hwy, Palatine IL. The Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine IL.

Shirley was born on December 23, 1931, in Chicago IL, to Frederick and Meta (Sunagel) George. She was the youngest of six children. 

Shirley graduated from Austin High School, Chicago, in 1949. 

She married Leonard Gondek in 1955. Shortly after, they moved to Des Plaines IL, where they raised their family. Shirley worked for Littlefuse, in Des Plaines, for many years, until her retirement. Shirley loved spending her time with her family, friends and church community. She enjoyed sewing and painting and had a special place in her heart for all animals.

Loving mother of Linda (John) Griffin and Michael Gondek; proud grandmother to Kristin Griffin, Grace Griffin, Sean Griffin, Margaret Griffin, Andrew (Rebecca) Gondek, Laura Gondek, Joseph Gondek, Daniel (Miranda) Gondek and Kathryn Gondek; great-grandmother to Liam Gondek and Holden Wilson; “Aunt Shirley” to many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; sister, Doris Dahl; and brothers, Edwin George, Frederick George, Elmer George and Richard George.
